Kim Henares, the taxwoman, has been making quite a noise as she takes down the “pasaway” taxpayers of the Philippines (and the not-so-pasaway OFWs). She is the strong woman of the Bureau of Internal Revenue who terrifies people by the sound of her name, leadership prowess, and physical skills such as sharp shooting. People even call her “Man of Steel.”
The various television ads that the BIR released under her leadership caught people’s attention as it reminds people how to be responsible taxpayers. She was even caught having word war with Manny Pacquiao because of overseen tax discrepancies. However, she wants all that she does to remain professional. According to her, no one is exempted to law. Her term in the BIR has defined the tax collection system in the country like never before.
Henares is a graduate of accounting from De La Salle University. Then she studied bachelor of laws at the Ateneo Law School and master of law at Georgetown University.
