Establishments and Infrastructures Built During Marcos’ Time

  1. The Philippine International Convention Center.

Under Presidential Decree no. 520, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas was authorized by late President Marcos to construct a facility which can hold international events and gatherings. This was in 1974, and the BSP acted it out immediately. By September 1976, the PICC stood erected in the Cultural Center of the Philippine complex in Pasay, Metro Manila. It has been inaugurated as the first Asia’s International Convention Center. True to its mission, the infrastructure has been the avenue of several conventions like the annual Awards Night for Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS), 2015 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, etc. It has also been the office of the Vice President of the Philippines until 2005, and also was the house of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
