Of all the vices there is, probably the most common and the cheapest addiction to is smoking. Tobacco is readily available in the market, making it very accessible to those who are addicted to it. And it is among the largest concerns of the Health Organizations all over the world. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there is a total of 480, 000 deaths in the United States because of the direct smoking and 42, 000 deaths due to secondhand smoking. This is very alarming, indeed. Moreover a study found out that smokers live 10 years shorter than the nonsmokers. This is because of the effects of too much tobacco use. Since tobacco contains nicotine, one who smokes is expected to feel relaxed, calmed down and at ease. Moreover, nicotine use can also causes stimulation which induces feelings of sharpness and alertness. However, during withdrawal phase, one might experience severe mood swings, which will made the individual more agitated and irritated than usual. Mood stimulation is the main effect of smoking to the brain.

Having a poor vision is a symptom of a constellation of diseases. And more often than not, this is a product of excessive smoking. Do you know that smokers have a 10% higher probability of having fatal eye problems than non smokers? Well, yes because smokers have higher tendency to have cataract, macular degeneration, uveitis, diabetic retinopathy, dry eyes, and infant eye disease. Cataract is an eye problem where the eye’s natural lenses are clouded  by a white mass that often leads to blindness. Macular degeneration on  the other hand, affects the center of retina which is the one responsible for sharp vision you need for driving and reading. Uveitis, another eye problem caused about by smoking is the inflammation of the eye’s middle layer or uvea; this inflammation can lead to total blindness when not treated immediately. Diabetic retinopathy damages the blood vessels of the retina which can also result to vision loss. Dry eyes, is a condition wherein there is insufficient tears or moisture in the eyes can also be caused by too much smoking. Lastly, the infant eye disease is for those babies born to pregnant women who are smoking addicts. Indeed, your vision is at risk when you smoke excessively.
