Aquino administration has gained the reputation of the ‘who brought China to the Court’. As one would remember, the fight to reclaim the Panatag Shoal was not an easy one, and Aquino stood bravely there together with other delegates from the country to fight China over it. Under Aquino as the chief architect of Philippine foreign policy, the Philippines filed an arbitration case against China over the West Philippine Sea on January 22, 2013. And the case was mightily won this July n2016. After several hearings, the  Permanent Court of Arbitration ruled in favor of the Philippines. It was “concluded that, as between the Philippines and China, there was no legal basis for China to claim historic rights to resources, in excess of the rights provided for by the Convention, within the sea areas falling within the ‘9-dash line.”
